Leading up to the World Future Trends Summit, we’re catching up with some of our speakers for our Forward Focus podcast series to see what they’ve been working on and get a sneak peek of the event this October.
In our first episode, I spoke with David D. Burstein, author of the forthcoming book FAST FUTURE: HOW THE MILLLENNIALS ARE SHAPING OUR WORLD, released in February 2013 from Beacon Press.
David D. Burstein, 23, is a writer, filmmaker, and passionate believer in the millennial generation. Besides being an author and frequent contributor to Fast Company, The Huffington Post, CNN, ABC, NPR, the New York Times, USA Today, Boston Globe, and others; David is also the Executive Director of Generation18, which he founded in 2006. Generation18 is the nation’s largest youth run young voter engagement organization. It is nonpartisan and not-for-profit. It started as an outgrowth of the 2007 documentary film, 18 in ‘08, which David directed and produced.
One interesting takeaway from our conversation, for me, was the fact that Burstein noted “my core competency is telling stories about things that matter to me.” Storytelling seems to be an increasingly common thread amongst many smaller trends, listen to the podcast here for this and other millennial insights.
